Moved my trees outside!

I keep my hardy deciduous and pines in my unheated garage over the winter.
It looks like it will be above 30F for the next week, so I decided to move them out the the bench.

I only watered them once this winter.
Some of the larger potted trees didn't get watered at all.

Has anyone else moved their trees out of winter protection yet?

Theft

Apparently now I have to worry about security. Within the last day or two one of my bonsai trees was stolen from my yard. Thankfully all my tropicals are indoors already.

Does anyone have any good solutions to this? I can't put up a fence since I don't own the property (I'm renting half a duplex). This tree was sitting on a bench against the south-facing wall of my house, not publicly visible unless you walked between mine and my neighbor's house from the street and continued on past my garage to the alley.

Bonsai noob looking for some guidance.

Hi, I'm currently near Polaris and looking for some helpful info. I've always been fascinated with the art of Bonsai and up until now haven't been in a house with any sort of good outdoor or even a indoor environment to use. Now that I'm out of a apartment and finished with college I'd like to give Bonsai a dedicated go. The last time I planned to do it I went to the library and took out a bunch of books. I plan to do the same this time around as well as go to Barnes and Noble and pick up a good starter book.

New Large Ficus

Just sharing a new Ficus Carpella I picked up at Ken Huth's nursery last week. The tree is 32 inches tall and 12 inches across at the the base. The move from Ken's greenhouse to my sunporch has been a little stressful for the tree. I am seeing some leaf yellowing and dropping but nothing to terrible yet. I am sure the tree will do just fine once it adjusts. Ken included one of his BIG pots but repotting will have to wait until the tree settles in. See everyone at the meeting on Sunday. Mike

Moving Tropicals Outdoors

The next 4 days are forecast to be ~84F/~58F.

I think I will move my tropicals outside for a few hours, out of direct sunlight this weekend. It's a little scary moving them outside since they have been cooped up in my basement, under fluorescents all winter.

You have to be careful of wind damage to foliage, and scorch from the sun.

Is anyone else moving theirs outdoors this weekend?

Buckeye Bonsai

Has anyone tried to train a buckeye tree as bonsai, or know anyone that has? I've been curious about this for a little while now, though obviously I haven't put forth the effort myself.
